Das Orangerieschloss von Sanssouci ist das letzte und größte im Park Sanssouci errichtete Schlossgebäude und beeindruckendes Beispiel für die Bauten Friedrich Wilhelms IV., des „Romantikers auf dem Thron". Das imposante Bauwerk mit den Pflanzenhallen und dem zentralen Schloss, seinen Plastiken, Brunnen, Arkaden und Terrassen holt das Flair südlicher Architektur nach Potsdam und dokumentiert auf anschauliche Weise die Italiensehnsucht Friedrich Wilhelms IV.

Das Ensemble entstand in den Jahren zwischen 1851 und 1864. Während der langen Bauphase waren die Architekten Ludwig Persius, August Stüler und Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse mit den Planungen beschäftigt, wobei der König zahlreiche Entwürfe beisteuerte. - The Orangery Palace of Sanssouci is the last and largest castle building built in Sanssouci Park and an impressive example of the buildings of Frederick William IV, the "Romantic on the Throne". The imposing building with the plant halls and the central castle, its sculptures, fountains, arcades and terraces brings the flair of southern architecture to Potsdam and vividly documents the longing for Italy of Frederick William IV.
