Melrose station opened in 1849 but closed in 1964. However the main station and ‘up platform’ have been preserved along with original advertising boards for ‘Capstan Cigarettes’, ‘Melrose’s Teas’, ‘Lyons’ Tea’, ‘Lipton’s Tea’, ‘Cock’s Sole Leather’, ‘Railway Passenger Assurance’ and ‘Rodine Rapid Rat Remover’
